Walk into any thriving classroom and you’ll feel it, that subtle rhythm where learning flows naturally, confidence builds quietly, and students seem to grow right before your eyes. But behind that flow is a presence we often overlook.

It’s not always the person standing in front of the class.

Sometimes, it’s the person beside a student, kneeling quietly, whispering: “You’ve got this.” That person is the Teaching Assistant.

TAs are the heartbeat of inclusive education. They bridge gaps, translate instructions into understanding, and create moments of calm in the chaos of a busy school day. They see what others might miss like the flicker of frustration in a child’s eyes, the silent triumph of finally getting it right. Yet, their contribution is too often invisible. While teachers are offered training, conferences, and structured growth, many TAs work without the same access to professional development or recognition. They carry enormous responsibility with limited support. And that’s something we can change.

Because TAs don’t just assist learning. They amplify it.

And truth to be told, education isn’t about a single leader in a classroom, it’s about teams. The best schools know that teaching is not a solo act. It’s a partnership between teachers, learners, and those who support the daily journey between them. When TAs are equipped with confidence, training, and professional community, schools don’t just function better, they transform. Students thrive. Teachers feel supported. Classrooms become spaces of true inclusion.

That understanding is exactly what inspired us to create a new movement in Qatar. Introducing Q-STAR. The Qatar Support, Training & Resource Network

Born from a collaboration of educators, psychologists and other professionals that are passionate about uplifting classroom support professionals, dedicated to empowering Teaching Assistants, SEN specialists, and learning support staff across Qatar. A community designed to bring together the people who work every day to make learning possible, through CPD workshops, networking events, and resources that strengthen confidence and capability. Our first workshop at Qatar Foundation reminded us just how powerful shared purpose can be. It was all about connection, collaboration, and heart.

We’re thrilled to announce that Q-STAR’s first official networking event and launch will take place on 28 November 2025. This event will bring together Teaching Assistants, SEN specialists, counsellors, and educators from schools across Qatar for an afternoon of connection, learning, and shared inspiration.

There will be practical discussions, interactive sessions, and opportunities to meet like-minded professionals who share your passion for student success.
