It’s not always the person standing in front of the class.

Sometimes, it’s the person beside a student, kneeling quietly, whispering: “You’ve got this.” That person is the Teaching Assistant.

TAs are the heartbeat of inclusive education. They bridge gaps, translate instructions into understanding, and create moments of calm in the chaos of a busy school day. They see what others might miss like the flicker of frustration in a child’s eyes, the silent triumph of finally getting it right. Yet, their contribution is too often invisible. While teachers are offered training, conferences, and structured growth, many TAs work without the same access to professional development or recognition. They carry enormous responsibility with limited support. And that’s something we can change.
